About Us
ASHA School of Massage is owned by Dr. Stan Dawson and his wife Mary. Dr. Stan Dawson is a Chiropractor, Neuromuscular Massage Therapist, Ayurvedic Practitioner and Mind / Body Psychotherapist. Through his extensive education and exploration he has discovered a model of health that integrates all modalities as well as both Eastern and Western philosophies. This model is the foundational understanding taught to all ASHA School of Massage students. To find out more you can go to www.ashamassage.com.
At ASHA School of Massage we are dedicated to educating and developing compassionate, highly skilled and versatile Massage Therapists in the modalities of Swedish Massage, Neuromuscular Therapy Massage, Clinical Sports Massage and Reflexology. We teach our massage students that they have 4 jobs: 1) stress relief and relaxation, 2) pain and symptom relief, 3) structural integration, and 4) facilitating optimal health.
You will receive an excellent low cost massage from students in the ASHA Student Clinic. As students complete more of their massage training, they are able to offer a wider range of massage techniques. It is best to find a massage student that you feel comfortable with and see them regularly throughout their educational process. They will assess your condition and be able to more effectively assist you as they complete each section of their massage training.
Students start clinic after they complete their training in Swedish Massage. Initially, students focus on providing relaxing, therapeutic Swedish massage. Each student is scheduled days to work at ASHA Student Clinic and gain hands-on massage experience, performing massage on clients in a private treatment room in the professional setting of our Wellness Center.
ASHA School of Massage & Wellness Center’s goal is to better serve people’s healthcare through massage therapy integrated with chiropractic care, naturopathic care, nutritional consultation acupuncture and all massage modalities. At our Student Clinic we prepare our students to enter the holistic health field by knowing how to treat the body with an understanding of the interdependency of body, mind and spirit. ASHA School of Massage graduates understand that all aspects of the human system are interdependent, and that changes in any aspect will affect all the others.
In the ASHA Wellness Center we provide a team of health professionals, including massage therapists, that will work with you towards relieving and often eliminating acute and chronic pain, refining self-awareness, improving self-image, refining beliefs, improving discrimination, refining intuition, enhancing sensory perception, developing emotional maturity, accessing purpose and meaning, or any parameter of physical, spiritual, mental, or emotional well-being. Accomplishing any or all of these is a goal of our healthcare team.
At ASHA Wellness Center any practitioner you start with will lead you to your overall health goals. When a health practitioner understands the principle of interdependence, it dictates a common sense approach to relationships with all other health practitioners (when and to whom to refer). We believe that our clients are best served when all our healing arts professionals work together in harmony, appreciating the value of each other’s contribution. Your health is our primary focus.
We also believe that clients should seek help to maintain balance rather than waiting until symptoms are fully developed or more severe. By intervening early, we believe that health care costs can be reduced drastically and that people will be healthier.
Many of our practitioners teach at our healing arts school, because they have developed a very high level of expertise in their field.
