Services
Students at ASHA School of Massage start their 900 hour comprehensive massage training with a Swedish Massage course. After this they are ready to give basic relaxation and stress reduction massage in our ASHA School of Massage Student Clinic.
As they complete each part of their training, they use what they learned in the classroom in their Student Clinic massage sessions.
Along with Swedish Massage their curriculum includes comprehensive training in Clinical Sports Massage, Neuromuscular Therapy Massage, Reflexology as well as Nutrition, Mind/Body Integration, Polarity Therapy, Spa Readiness, Asian Theory and in-depth Anatomy and Physiology. ASHA School of Massage graduates some of the highest trained massage therapists in the country.
Techniques include:
Swedish Massage
Swedish technique is the foundation technique for all massage, and the most relaxing of all types of massage. Students learn the five basic Swedish strokes and joint mobilization. They also learn the dynamics of mind/body interactions in massage.
Clinical Sports Massage
This course breaks down into two sections: (1) Basic Sports, which covers traditional sports massage techniques for the treatment of athletes and their injuries, and (2) Advanced Sports, which presents advanced techniques applicable to both athletes and the general public. These advanced techniques include myofascial release designed to reorganize the body’s connective tissue to create a more ideal posture and Muscle Energy Techniques which reset normal muscle tone, reorganizes joint mechanics and reorganize the fascial system gently and easily.
Neuromuscular Therapy Massage
This comprehensive, advanced clinical course trains ASHA’s students on myofascial pain and dysfunction. NMT uses scientifically-applied pressure to relieve myofascial pain, balance structure, restore movement, and promote integration of mind and body. Students are taught all aspects of NMT, including postural assessment and trigger-point referral patterns. They also learn how to integrate all three core massage techniques (NMT, Sports, and Swedish) which they study in this program.
Reflexology
ASHA School of Massage students learn a very systematic approach to working on specific points on the feet that affect the body’s various systems. A strong emphasis is placed on the mind-body connection. Students learn how to work the nervous system, endocrine system, respiratory system, as well as the joints and muscles through points on their clients feet.
